Product evolution
An engineering lineage shaped by deployment, feedback, and use over time.
The Microdeep platform has evolved through successive engineering generations, each informed by real-world use, operational constraints, and technological progress.
This evolution reflects a continuous refinement of robustness, autonomy, and deployment readiness — not a sequence of isolated products.
Microdeep Mk I — Concept validation
The first generation established the core measurement principles of the platform.
Focus areas:
• Validation of microfluidic imaging concepts
• Early AI-based analysis workflows
• Research and proof-of-feasibility deployments
Mk I laid the foundations for continuous microscopic observation, confirming that persistent, on-site measurement was technically viable.
Microdeep Mk II — Stabilization
The second generation focused on improving reliability and operational consistency.
Focus areas:
• Improved mechanical and optical stability
• More repeatable fluid handling
• Extended operating timeframes
Mk II marked the transition from experimental setups to early continuous deployments.
Microdeep Mk III — Field readiness
The third generation was designed for real-world deployment outside controlled laboratory environments.
Focus areas:
• Autonomous operation
• Ruggedization and environmental protection
• Remote access and monitoring capabilities
Mk III enabled sustained field and industrial use, supporting long-term monitoring scenarios.
Microdeep Mk IV — Platform maturity
The current generation reflects the maturation of the Microdeep platform.
Focus areas:
• Expanded sensing and automation capabilities
• Improved long-term stability
• Deployment scalability and operational continuity
Mk IV consolidates prior learnings into a platform designed for extended deployment lifecycles and evolving monitoring needs.
Continuity across generations
Each Microdeep generation builds upon the previous one.
Measurement principles, data structures, and analytical approaches are preserved to ensure continuity across deployments and over time.
This approach allows:
• longitudinal comparability of data
• gradual upgrades without disruption
• long-term confidence in deployed systems
Current deployments
Current deployments are based on Mk III and Mk IV configurations, adapted to customer requirements and operational context. In special cases/requirements, eg. academia, we still deploy Mk I and Mk II units.
Earlier generations remain part of the platform’s engineering history and have directly informed current designs.
Looking forward
The Microdeep platform continues to evolve incrementally, guided by deployment feedback rather than short-term product cycles.
Future developments are approached as extensions of the platform, not replacements.
